Psychotherapies at the Wilkins Center
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on maladaptive behavior or defense mechanism that may have originated early in life and their affect or interference with a person’s present quality of life. It is useful for people that have problems from growing up in an abusive home or violent environment. Psychodynamic therapy requires introspection, or the ability to take a good look at oneself. A psychodynamic therapist can help you understand how your past history may negatively influence your behavior today and help you learn appropriate behaviors to replace your unhealthy ones.
