Adjustment Disorders
An adjustment disorder can occur following a life stressor, such as the death of a loved one, a divorce, financial problems, school difficulties, or family conflict. People with an adjustment disorder develop symptoms that interfere with their daily life. They may feel depressed, agitated, and experience physical complaints. Psychotherapy, behavior therapy, and family therapy can help people return to their pre-event level of functioning. In some cases, short-term medication may be used. If you suspect that you or someone you know is experiencing and adjustment disorder, please give us a call at (203) 531-1909 for more information.
